Job Overview:
The Nurse position at the UN Health Care Center in Addis Ababa is crucial for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to UN staff and beneficiaries. The role emphasizes the importance of safety, well-being, and satisfaction of patients, contributing to the overall mission of the UN. The Nurse will work under the supervision of the Head Nurse and will be responsible for maintaining operational efficiency within the Health Care Center. This includes responding to emergencies, providing medical coverage during events, and ensuring a healthy workforce through effective healthcare delivery. The Nurse's contributions are vital in promoting a culture of medical excellence and ensuring that the health needs of the UN community are met promptly and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nurse will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to: responding to emergency calls during off-duty hours, organizing ambulance transport and referrals, attending to medical emergencies on the UN compound, providing medical coverage for conferences and official events, serving as a replacement for regular nursing staff, documenting all medical interventions accurately, participating in emergency preparedness drills, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The Nurse must uphold the highest standards of medical ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism, ensuring respect and compassion for all patients and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from a recognized university and hold national registration. A valid certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support or equivalent emergency training is mandatory. An advanced university degree in emergency medicine is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant emergency nursing experience, with work experience in an international organization being a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from a recognized institution. Candidates must also have valid certifications in Basic and Advanced Life Support or equivalent emergency training. An advanced degree in emergency medicine is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in emergency nursing. Candidates with experience working in international organizations will have an advantage, as this experience is valuable in understanding the unique healthcare needs and operational protocols within such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English is required for this role, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered an advantage and may enhance communication within the diverse UN workforce.
