Job Overview: This position involves conducting a terminal evaluation of a specific UNDP project in Nauru. Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop an evaluation framework and methodology tailored to the specific project being evaluated.
Conduct interviews and focus group discussions with stakeholders to gather qualitative data.
Analyze quantitative data related to project outcomes and outputs.
Prepare and present preliminary findings to UNDP and stakeholders for feedback.
Draft a comprehensive terminal evaluation report that includes findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations.
Ensure that the evaluation adheres to UNDP's evaluation standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with UNDP staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Submit the final evaluation report by the agreed deadline.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in conducting evaluations of development projects, preferably in the context of UNDP or similar organizations.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Nauru and the Pacific region is an advantage.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A master's degree in social sciences, development studies, evaluation, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or evaluation methodologies would be beneficial.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project evaluation, particularly in international development contexts. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to manage complex evaluations and produce high-quality reports is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Nauru would be an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be a full-time engagement during the evaluation period. The contractor will work remotely and may need to travel to Nauru if required for stakeholder engagement. Compensation will be based on the contractor's qualifications and experience, and specific terms will be discussed during the negotiation phase.
