Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant position at UN Women India is integral to the implementation of the donor-funded project titled 'Gender Equality Xcelerate: Transformative Pathways towards Gender Justice.' This project aims to enhance women's social, economic, and political equality and empowerment in alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Programme Assistant will report to the Country Programme Manager and will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and logistical support to the programme teams. This includes assisting in the formulation and management of programme activities, ensuring effective delivery and reporting of programme-supported activities, and contributing to the development of standard operating procedures and guidelines. The role requires a proactive approach to support the overall objectives of the project and facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building among stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing administrative support in the preparation of programme work plans, budgets, and proposals; offering technical guidance to country offices and executing agencies; coordinating the collection of information for audits and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations; developing and updating standard operating procedures and guidelines; reviewing programme data and compiling information for various documents; managing financial aspects of the Programme Unit, including budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, and preparing financial reports; overseeing logistical arrangements for meetings and events; liaising with high-level officials; preparing public information materials; supporting resource mobilization efforts; and facilitating knowledge building and sharing best practices related to programme management and finance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of programme management and administrative processes. They should demonstrate the ability to create, edit, synthesize, and present information clearly. Proficiency in administering and executing administrative transactions is essential, along with skills in business process re-engineering and data management systems. Excellent financial and budgeting skills are required, as well as proficiency in IT and office software packages. The candidate should also exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A completion of secondary education is required for this position. A Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration is considered an asset and would enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management/support. Experience in a computer environment using multiple office software packages is mandatory. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable. The candidate should also have experience in supporting a team and managing programme-related tasks effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Hindi is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and would be an advantage in the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is part of a project that will run from 2024 to 2027, focusing on gender equality initiatives across five states in India. The Programme Assistant will be expected to work full-time and may be involved in various administrative and logistical tasks related to the project.
