Job Overview:
The Partnership and Visibility Intern at the UN Women Nordic Liaison Office will engage in a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the visibility of UN Women’s work in the Nordic and Baltic regions. This role is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of UN communication strategies and the global challenges related to gender equality. Interns will participate in UN Women’s engagement with diverse stakeholders, gaining valuable insights into the organization's efforts to advance gender equality worldwide. The internship will commence on August 1, 2025, and conclude on January 31, 2026, offering a unique opportunity to learn and contribute to significant initiatives in the field of gender equality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting national political surveillance on issues pertinent to UN Women’s mandate, reporting on relevant government policy developments. They will support the implementation of UN Women’s communication strategy, enhancing visibility through social media platforms like LinkedIn, and engaging with partners and the public to raise awareness about gender equality. The intern will assist in drafting OpEds and other communications aimed at national audiences, organize outreach activities, and coordinate high-level visits and events. Monitoring national media coverage related to UN Women’s work, preparing briefing notes, and participating in advocacy activities with UN sister organizations are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the intern will host visits, assist with inquiries, and perform other support duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong interest in the work of UN Women and the ideals of the UN Charter. They should have a good understanding of social media, media monitoring, and communication strategies. The ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Strong event planning skills, cultural sensitivity, and proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom are essential. Analytical skills and the ability to present information clearly and effectively are also required.

Educational Background:
Applicants should be pursuing university studies in disciplines such as political science, development studies, gender studies, international relations, media and communication, or journalism. They must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program, be in the final year of a first university degree program, be part of a mandatory national service program, or have recently graduated with a relevant degree and start the internship within two years of graduation.

Experience:
The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in a relevant academic program or have recently graduated. While prior experience is not explicitly required, familiarity with the UN system, gender equality issues, and communication strategies will be advantageous.

Languages:
Proficient communication skills in English, both written and oral, are mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in a Nordic language is required, and knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position, and interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive a stipend from UN Women to help cover basic living costs during the internship. Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a valid health insurance plan, proof of school enrollment or degree, a scanned copy of their passport or national ID, and a copy of a valid visa if applicable.
