Job Overview: The position of Assistant de Communication at UNDP in the Central African Republic involves supporting the communication strategy of the Country Office under the guidance of the Resident Representative and the Communication Analyst. The assistant will engage in various tasks, including covering events through photography and audiovisual means, creating diverse communication materials, managing media relations, and organizing events. The assistant will also be responsible for updating the Country Office's online presence, including website management and social media engagement. Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant de Communication will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Providing photographic and audiovisual coverage of Country Office events and activities.
Actively participating in the production of various communication materials and monitoring their development.
Collaborating on media plans and managing media relations, including writing press releases, organizing press conferences, and maintaining media contact lists.
Assisting in the organization of internal and external events such as meetings, seminars, and press points.
Utilizing web tools to enhance the visibility of the Country Office's work online, including website updates and social media management.
Performing administrative tasks related to the communication unit, such as note-taking in meetings, writing reports, and managing the unit's agenda.
Engaging in volunteer activities and promoting the concept of volunteering within the host country.
Contributing to the onboarding of newly arrived UN Volunteers and promoting the use of online volunteering services.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in using digital tools for communication and media management is essential. Candidates should have a good understanding of the local context and the challenges faced in post-conflict settings. A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances are also important. Additionally, candidates should be committed to the values of integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.
Educational Background: A degree in communication, public relations, journalism, or a related field is required. Candidates with additional certifications or training in communication strategies or media relations will be preferred. Knowledge of the UN system and its operations, particularly in development contexts, is an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in communication, public relations, or a related field. Experience working in a multicultural environment or with international organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges of working in a post-conflict country will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the Central African Republic. Proficiency in English is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer role under the UN Volunteers program. The duration of the contract is typically for a year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
