Job Overview:
The Graphic Designer position at UNDP Jordan is crucial for enhancing the organization's visual communication efforts. The role involves developing high-quality visual content that aligns with UNDP's branding and communication goals. The designer will be responsible for creating engaging graphics that effectively communicate complex data and ideas, thereby supporting the strategic objectives of the Country Programme in Jordan. This includes producing materials such as banners, reports, social media assets, brochures, and presentations. The designer will work closely with the communications team to ensure that all outputs contribute to a consistent visual identity and narrative for UNDP, thereby reinforcing its mission and objectives. The position requires a strategic approach to design, ensuring that all materials are cohesive and effectively convey the intended messages to various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Graphic Designer include:
  • Developing and maintaining a unified design framework that aligns with UNDP’s branding and communication goals.
  • Planning projects comprehensively to ensure all materials integrate seamlessly into a broader visual narrative.
  • Collaborating with the communications team to establish long-term design strategies that enhance the programme’s identity.
  • Creating high-quality visual content, including banners, reports, social media assets, brochures, and presentations.
  • Translating complex data and ideas into visually engaging infographics.
  • Presenting quantitative and qualitative data in clear and visually attractive formats.
  • Ensuring all designs adhere to UNDP’s branding and style guidelines.
  • Developing templates for recurring reports and custom infographics for flagship publications.
  • Creating data dashboards or interactive visualizations. 1
  • Working closely with the communications team to understand project requirements and deadlines. 1
  • Identifying and documenting best practices and lessons learned from projects. 1
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Graphic Designer position include:
  • Proven experience in graphic design and data visualization, with a portfolio showcasing relevant work.
  • Strong conceptual and creative thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex data through visuals.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Flourish.
  • Familiarity with presentation design tools like Microsoft PowerPoint or Canva.
  • Basic animation skills using tools like Adobe After Effects are a plus.
  • Knowledge of interactive design tools such as Figma or Adobe XD is an asset.
  • Understanding of printing processes and colour management. 1
  • Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Design, Visual Communication, Information Design, or other relevant disciplines. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the mentioned areas, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
For applicants with a master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, professional work experience is not required. However, those with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience at the national or international level in graphic design and visual arts, particularly in multisectoral programming, branding, and strategic marketing.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
