Job Overview:
The Project Officer for Teacher Development will play a crucial role in managing, implementing, and monitoring the progress of the Main Line of Action (MLA) 1 of the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030’s Strategic Plan. This position is pivotal in the production and dissemination of knowledge related to teacher development, particularly through the flagship activity of designing and producing the Global Report on Teachers. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including Education Sector Divisions, Regional Bureaus, Field Offices, and academic institutions, to ensure effective collaboration and information exchange. The role requires a strategic approach to knowledge production, focusing on identifying research gaps, leading the commissioning of background papers, and ensuring the quality of the report through rigorous data analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including managing the design and production of the Global Report on Teachers, contributing to its analytical framework, and drafting major chapters. They will also oversee the implementation of other knowledge products under MLA 1, support events and outreach initiatives, and ensure alignment with other actions of the Task Force's workplan. Regular reporting on achievements and challenges will be required, along with the management of knowledge development initiatives to monitor teacher policy progress. The role also involves presenting report outputs at public events and maintaining effective partnerships with multilateral organizations and academic institutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Education, Economics, Social or Human Sciences, Sociology, Political Science, or related fields. A minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional experience in research or authorship in international education development, educational communication, or education policy is required. Proven experience in international policy development, program management, and network building is essential, along with the ability to draft complex research concepts clearly and concisely.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Education, Economics, Social or Human Sciences, Sociology, Political Science, or related disciplines is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of international education systems and policies.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least four years of relevant professional experience, with a focus on research and analysis in international education development or related fields. Experience in managing and coordinating the design and production of high-level global publications on education-related issues is highly desirable. Familiarity with SDG 4 and education monitoring frameworks is also beneficial.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of French is desirable, and working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset. Proficiency in multiple languages will enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a project appointment with a duration of one year, subject to extension based on funding availability and satisfactory performance. The role is open to both internal and external candidates. The approximate annual starting salary for this position is 100,052 USD, and benefits may include 30 days of annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, and a pension plan.
