Job Overview: The Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) Manager will oversee the daily operations of the MHAC in Amman, Jordan, ensuring that all health assessments are conducted in accordance with the technical requirements of resettlement countries. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO) to ensure that all health assessments, including medical examinations, laboratory testing, vaccinations, and TB management, are carried out efficiently and effectively. This role requires a strong commitment to quality improvement and adherence to global IOM Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The manager will also be responsible for data management, financial oversight, and procurement of medical supplies, ensuring that the MHAC operates within budget and meets all operational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the efficient daily operations of the Migration Health Assessment Center (MHAC) in coordination with the CMHO.
Conduct the migration health assessment process, fulfilling technical requirements for medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, treatment and referrals, and documentation.
Identify refugees and migrants during health assessments and maintain accurate health records.
Provide treatment for TB and sexually transmitted infections, and support HIV counseling activities.
Oversee TB case management and ensure compliance with immunization and treatment protocols.
Monitor and educate staff on program delivery and quality improvement initiatives.
Conduct regular quality control activities and use data analysis to monitor performance indicators.
Implement IOM SOPs and create MHAC-specific SOPs.
Manage incident reporting and ensure data quality in health assessment programs. 1
Oversee financial aspects of the MHAC, including budget preparation and procurement of medical supplies. 1
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Medicine from an accredited institution.
Valid medical license to practice in Jordan is mandatory.
Professional clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital setting.
Good knowledge of clinical medicine and patient safety protocols.
Proven expertise or post-graduate specialization in pediatrics, pulmonology, emergency medicine, or internal medicine is advantageous.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary medical knowledge and skills to perform health assessments and manage health-related programs effectively.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have continuous professional clinical experience, preferably within a multidisciplinary hospital setting. The last clinical posting should have occurred within the last three years to ensure that the candidate is up-to-date with current medical practices and standards. Experience in managing health assessment programs and working with refugees or migrants is highly desirable.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for all external applicants in the Professional category. Additionally, candidates must have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish. Fluency in the language of the country where the incumbent is working (Arabic in this case) is also required, both orally and in writing.
