Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations in Albania is a collaborative body consisting of 19 resident and non-resident agencies. It works closely with the Government of Albania and various partners, including civil society, development partners, academia, and the private sector. The mission of the UN in Albania is to strengthen the rule of law, promote human rights and fundamental freedoms, protect the environment, and support economic and social reforms, as well as gender equality. The organization takes inspiration from the United Nations Charter and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address complex global challenges. The UN in Albania operates under a coherent country programme known as the Government of Albania-UN Programme of Cooperation for Sustainable Development (PoCSD) 2022-2026, which aligns with Albania's goal of European Union integration and the Agenda 2030.

Job Overview:
The role of the Photographer National Contractor is to provide high-quality photographic services to support the UN's promotional materials for various programs and initiatives. The contractor will be responsible for capturing high-resolution images that will be used in promotional materials distributed across social media platforms and the UN's website, as well as partner websites. The expected deliverables include at least 15 selected portrait format photos in high resolution for each assignment, which will take place between March 24, 2025, and December 31, 202
  • The contractor will document activities related to the UN agency, including events, field visits, and campaigns, ensuring that the dignity of subjects, especially children and vulnerable groups, is maintained. The contractor must adhere to UN guidelines and policies regarding confidentiality and copyright.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Photographer National Contractor will have several key responsibilities, including:
  • Capturing high-resolution images for promotional materials related to the UN Joint Programmes.
  • Editing and providing at least 15 selected and edited images from each assignment.
  • Documenting activities of the hiring UN agency, which may include events, field visits, and campaigns.
  • Ensuring the quality of photo/video materials suitable for printing, publishing, and web design purposes.
  • Maintaining the dignity of subjects, particularly vulnerable groups, in accordance with UN guidelines.
  • Managing information flow and adhering to deadlines and commitments made.
  • Abiding by UN copyright rules and regulations, and refraining from providing any photo/video materials to external media outlets or organizations.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience as a photographer.
  • Experience in taking photographs for development-related agencies and projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent photographic and digital skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in photography, Arts, or a closely related field of studies. This educational background is essential to ensure that the contractor has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the duties required for the position effectively.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least five years of progressive experience in photography, particularly in contexts related to development agencies and projects. This level of experience is crucial for understanding the specific needs and expectations of the UN and its partners.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Albanian is required for this position, as these are the primary languages used in the UN's operations in Albania. Additionally, knowledge of French is beneficial, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

  • The contractor will be expected to work primarily in Tirana, with a maximum of 20 days outside of Tirana. It is important to note that no additional costs outside the scope of the contract will be covered.
