Job Overview: The Junior Policy Analyst position is integral to the OECD's Global Relations, specifically within the Middle East & Africa Division. The role involves supporting the implementation of various projects aimed at enhancing economic resilience and governance in fragile contexts, particularly in Yemen and Libya. The analyst will work under the guidance of the Head of the Division, contributing to the design and execution of capacity-building activities, conducting research, and providing analytical inputs on economic policies. The position requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights, ensuring that the OECD's initiatives are effectively tailored to the needs of the regions involved.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Junior Policy Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the implementation of OECD projects in Yemen and Libya by coordinating activities, managing communications with stakeholders, and organizing events.
Conducting research and drafting analytical papers on economic resilience and private sector development in fragile contexts.
Preparing briefing notes and background papers for various OECD events and discussions.
Contributing to the analysis of economic policies and reforms in post-conflict economies.
Engaging in public-private dialogue initiatives and researching their impact on economic policy development.
Collecting and synthesizing best practices in economic governance and regulatory frameworks relevant to the MENA region.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in law, economics, economic development, public policy, or international relations. Additionally, a minimum of two years of relevant experience in international organizations, ministries, or consulting firms is required, with a focus on economic development and private sector policies. Familiarity with the MENA region's economic landscape and challenges, particularly in fragile contexts, is essential. Strong drafting and communication skills are necessary to produce high-quality analytical documents and engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as law, economics, economic development, public policy, or international relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of economic policies and their implications in fragile contexts.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in relevant policy areas, particularly economic development and private sector initiatives. Experience working in or on economic policies related to the MENA region is highly desirable, and prior work in conflict-affected countries will be considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to draft analytical documents and engage in effective communication within multicultural teams.
Languages: Fluency in one of the two official OECD languages, English or French, is mandatory, along with a commitment to achieving a good working level in the other language. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with stakeholders in the MENA region.
