Job Posting Organization: The UNOPS South East Asia Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO) was established in January 2023 following the merger of the Thailand Multi-Country Office and the Cambodia Multi-Country Office. It supports, develops, and oversees the UNOPS portfolio of projects across 24 countries in North East Asia, South East Asia, and the Pacific. The office is headquartered in Bangkok and comprises nine business units, focusing on various sectors including Energy Transition, Digital Transformations, SustainableEnvironmental Management, Climate Change, and more. In 2024, the office implemented projects worth over USD 80 million, demonstrating its commitment to addressing critical issues in the region.
Job Overview: The Performance Management and Compliance (PMC) Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the MCO Management on various management matters, including risk management, strategy formulation, and annual business planning. The intern will assist in the establishment, evaluation, and monitoring of internal control mechanisms, coordinate audits and external verifications, and provide project budgeting support. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in performance management and compliance within a dynamic international organization, contributing to the overall effectiveness of UNOPS operations in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for assisting in strategic planning and annual business planning processes by conducting analyses, collecting data, generating reports, and ensuring proper documentation. They will support the development and monitoring of SSU and PMC Annual Work Plans, compile and submit periodic reports on performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), and assist in internal control evaluations. The intern will also maintain SSU dashboards, provide secretarial support for meetings, and coordinate knowledge-sharing sessions. Additionally, they may be involved in ad hoc projects as requested by SSU Management, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the office's operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a university program related to Business Administration, Commerce, Management, Accounting, Audit, or Finance. A bachelor's level qualification in these fields is desirable. Prior certifications in accounting, auditing, or project management (such as PRINCE2, CIA, ACCA, CPA) are highly desirable. Strong computer literacy, particularly in Google Suite applications and MS Excel/Google Sheets, is essential. The ability to work in an international and multicultural environment is also important.
Educational Background: Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university program (Bachelor’s, Master's, or Ph.D.) or have graduated within the last three years. The areas of study should relate to Business Administration, Commerce, Management, Accounting, Audit, or Finance. Completion of a bachelor’s level qualification in these fields is desirable, and prior certifications in relevant areas are highly valued.
Experience: While professional work experience is not required, candidates with experience in project or program management, compliance, risk management, or finance are preferred. Experience working or volunteering in these fields will be considered an asset. Strong computer skills, particularly in Google Suite applications, are also desirable, with significant exposure to MS Excel or Google Sheets being mandatory.
Languages: Fluency in written and oral English is required. Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.
Additional Notes: This is a 12-month internship contract, and it is important to note that this internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS.
