Job Overview: The SRH Programme Coordinator will provide programmatic and technical leadership within UNFPA and collaborate with stakeholders across the UN, civil society organizations (CSOs), and government entities. This role involves overseeing the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Unit in the Country Office and ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SRH programs aligned with UNFPA's strategic plan and Nigeria's national development priorities. The Coordinator will lead a team of professionals and work closely with various partners to improve SRH outcomes in Nigeria, reporting directly to the UNFPA Deputy Representative.
Duties and Responsibilities: The SRH Programme Coordinator will be responsible for strategic leadership and management of the SRH Unit, providing vision and guidance, developing and implementing strategies and work plans, and ensuring effective coordination of SRH programs. The role includes providing technical guidance and oversight for SRH design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation, managing SRH projects, overseeing budgeting and financial management, and ensuring timely implementation of programs. The Coordinator will also be involved in resource mobilization, building partnerships with stakeholders, advocating for policies that promote SRH, and strengthening the capacity of national partners through training and knowledge sharing. Additionally, the Coordinator will oversee monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of SRH programs and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Public Health, Health Economy, Medicine, Social Sciences, or a related field. They should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in sexual and reproductive health, including program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience in managing complex SRH programs in developing countries and demonstrated leadership in health system strengthening is essential. Strong technical knowledge of SRH issues, excellent project management skills, and the ability to build partnerships are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in relevant fields such as Public Health, Health Economy, Medicine, or Social Sciences. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health and for effectively leading programs in this area.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health. This experience should include program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, particularly in a developing country context. Additionally, candidates should have experience in strategic leadership of health system strengthening at both national and sub-national levels, as well as in developing and managing SRHR programs.
Languages: Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of local languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
