Job Overview: The Project Associate position is integral to the successful implementation of the regional project titled 'Poverty Reduction through Safe Migration, Skills Development and Enhanced Job Placement in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Thailand.' The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the National Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of Unit of the Labour Mobility and Human Development Unit in Bangkok. This role involves supporting the implementation of program activities, conducting research on labor migration, and assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of project activities. The Project Associate will be responsible for retrieving, compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information and data on specific project topics, ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. The role also requires monitoring the project budget, verifying the availability of funds, and obtaining necessary approvals while updating budget-related information. The Project Associate will act as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising extensively with various organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain clearances, and process administrative actions. Additionally, the candidate will draft status reports, correspondence on project issues, and prepare various forms of documentation, including reports, briefing notes, and statistical tables. The role also involves responding to complex information requests, organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and participating in meetings and conferences to coordinate implementation activities with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders relevant to the project. The Project Associate will assist in monitoring the work of implementing partners and provide guidance and training to new or junior staff members, ensuring that all project activities align with IOM's mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Associate include:
Supporting the implementation and monitoring of project activities related to labor migration and poverty reduction.
Retrieving, compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics.
Monitoring the project budget, verifying the availability of funds, and updating budget-related information.
Acting as a focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties.
Drafting status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, and suggesting remedial actions to the supervisor.
Preparing and updating reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other documentation.
Responding to complex information requests and inquiries, maintaining files/records, and organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
Participating in meetings and conferences, assisting in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders.
Monitoring the work of implementing partners and reporting non-compliances to the supervisor. 1

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Project Associate position include:
A school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups.
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Familiarity with financial and business administration is essential.
Strong teamwork orientation with the ability to work independently when necessary.
Excellent writing and communication skills are crucial for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received a recognized and quality education that prepares them for the responsibilities of the Project Associate role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or five years of relevant experience if they possess a school diploma. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and internally displaced persons is essential. Additionally, prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multi-cultural setting is considered an advantage, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate complex environments and work effectively with diverse populations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Thai is required for this position, both oral and written. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is essential for the successful execution of the Project Associate's duties. IOM’s official languages also include French and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory. Additional Notes: The Project Associate position is classified under the General Service (G-5) category, with a monthly salary of THB 74,905.7
The type of appointment is a Special Short-Term Contract, initially for six months with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The estimated start date for the position is as soon as possible, and the closing date for applications is set for 11 March 202

Candidates must hold a valid residence and work permit for Thailand to be eligible for consideration. Additionally, any offer made to the candidate is contingent upon funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for a period of 24 months. The appointment will also be subject to certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government, where applicable.
