Job Overview:
The Civile Peace Service (CPS) Advisor position focuses on the prevention of violence and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions, specifically within the Palestinian Territories. The CPS aims to create a world where conflicts are resolved without violence. The advisor will work closely with local civil society organizations to promote psychosocial well-being, strengthen peace actors, enhance capacities for safe spaces, and support dialogue opportunities across geographic and social boundaries. The role requires strategic and operational planning, monitoring processes, and ensuring the integration of conflict sensitivity and human rights in all project measures. The advisor will also be responsible for knowledge management and sharing best practices among the CPS team and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The CPS Advisor will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Collaborating with the programme coordinator and CPS Team on strategic and operational planning, ensuring alignment with indicators and expected outcomes.
  • Engaging in impact-oriented planning processes with partner organizations, defining roles and responsibilities for CPS advisors.
  • Conducting impact-oriented monitoring processes in close dialogue with partners and the CPS Team.
  • Integrating conflict sensitivity, the Do No Harm principle, gender considerations, and a human rights-based approach into all CPS project measures.
  • Providing recommendations to the programme and partner organizations based on monitoring analyses.
  • Supporting partner organizations with project-level reporting and coordinating with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for overall reporting.
  • Facilitating knowledge management focused on learning experiences and good practices within the CPS team and partners' network.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in social or political sciences, peace and conflict studies, or a relevant field. They should have several years of expertise and practical experience in peacebuilding and local conflict transformation. Proven skills in Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) and conflict analysis, as well as experience in designing conflict-sensitive approaches, are essential. Additionally, candidates should have professional experience in fragile contexts and possess partner-oriented work skills and advisory competencies. Patience, high frustration tolerance, and the ability to work in a multicultural team are also required, along with sensitivity to issues such as racism and historical legacies.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in social or political sciences, peace and conflict studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of conflict and peacebuilding, as well as for effectively engaging with local communities and organizations in the Palestinian Territories.

Experience:
Candidates should have several years of relevant experience in peacebuilding and local conflict transformation. Experience in Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) and conflict analysis is necessary, along with a proven track record of working in fragile contexts. Familiarity with the region and its specific challenges will be advantageous, as will experience in advisory roles within multicultural teams.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Solid language skills in German and Arabic are considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication with local partners and stakeholders in the Palestinian Territories.

The position is full-time, with an assignment period from June 1, 2025, to June 30, 202
