Job Overview:
The Resident Coordinator in Micronesia is tasked with overseeing UN operations not only in Micronesia but also in neighboring countries such as the Marshall Islands, Palau, Kiribati, and Nauru. This role is pivotal in leading the UN country teams and ensuring accountability for the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The Resident Coordinator is responsible for fostering partnerships with government entities, civil society, and the private sector to address national development needs and challenges. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Resident Coordinator must also conduct context and trend analyses, advocate for human rights and gender equality, and foster strategic partnerships. The Resident Coordinator is also responsible for promoting staff learning and implementing staff rules and policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in fields such as development studies, international relations, political science, or social sciences. A first-level university degree with relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. The position requires a minimum of 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at the international level, including five years in development, human rights, or humanitarian work at the country level. Previous experience as a Resident Coordinator or UN Designated Official for Security is desirable, along with experience in managing humanitarian programs and navigating politically sensitive environments.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as development studies, international relations, political science, economics, social sciences, human rights, or law. Candidates with a first-level university degree and significant relevant experience may also be considered. Experience:
The position demands a minimum of 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at the international level, with at least five years of cumulative experience in development, human rights, or humanitarian work at the country level outside of one's own country.
