Job Overview: The position of IC_National Climate Change Advisor is focused on providing expert advice and support to the UNDP in Thailand regarding climate change initiatives. The advisor will be responsible for developing strategies and policies that align with national priorities and international commitments on climate change. This role requires a deep understanding of climate science, policy frameworks, and the socio-economic impacts of climate change. The advisor will work closely with government agencies, civil society, and other stakeholders to promote climate resilience and sustainable practices. The position is expected to contribute to the formulation of national climate action plans and facilitate capacity-building efforts among local communities and institutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the IC_National Climate Change Advisor include but are not limited to:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of climate change impacts and vulnerabilities in Thailand.
Developing and recommending policies and strategies to enhance climate resilience at the national and local levels.
Collaborating with government agencies and stakeholders to implement climate change adaptation and mitigation projects.
Providing technical guidance and support in the preparation of national reports on climate change.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions to build capacity among stakeholders on climate change issues.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of climate change initiatives and providing feedback for improvement.
Engaging with international partners and organizations to align national efforts with global climate goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in climate science, environmental policy, or a related field. A proven track record of working on climate change issues, particularly in the context of Thailand, is essential. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in project management and familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures will be advantageous. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and the principles of the United Nations.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline will be given preference. Continuous professional development and training in climate change and related areas will be considered an asset.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change policy, environmental management, or a related field. Experience working with government agencies, international organizations, or NGOs on climate-related projects is highly desirable. Proven experience in conducting research and analysis on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies is also required.
Languages: Fluency in Thai is mandatory, as the position is open to Thai nationals only. Proficiency in English is also required, as the advisor will need to communicate with international partners and stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an asset.

The advisor will be expected to work full-time and may be required to travel within Thailand for project implementation and stakeholder engagement.
