Job Overview:
The Local Coordinator for Capacity Building and Training Activities for Climate Chan will play a crucial role in facilitating training and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of stakeholders involved in climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively coordinate training sessions, workshops, and other educational activities that align with the objectives of Climate Chan. The coordinator will be responsible for assessing training needs, developing training materials, and ensuring that all activities are conducted in a manner that promotes engagement and knowledge transfer. The role also involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups, to ensure that training programs are relevant and impactful. The coordinator will need to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and make recommendations for improvements based on feedback and outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage capacity-building and training activities related to climate change initiatives.
  • Assess the training needs of various stakeholders and develop tailored training programs to address those needs.
  • Design and prepare training materials, including presentations, manuals, and other educational resources.
  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars, ensuring active participation and engagement from attendees.
  • Collaborate with local and international experts to enhance the quality of training programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives, collecting feedback from participants and making necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare reports on training activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future programs.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment of training activities with broader climate change strategies.
  • Support the development of partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions to enhance training opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in capacity building and training coordination, particularly in the context of climate change or environmental sustainability.
  • Strong understanding of climate change issues, policies, and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for training delivery and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, education, social sciences, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for this position. Additional certifications in training and capacity building methodologies would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in training coordination, capacity building, or project management, particularly in the field of climate change or environmental sustainability. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Azerbaijani or Russian is considered an asset and would be beneficial for effective communication with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration will be specified upon selection. The position is full-time, and the successful candidate may be required to travel within Azerbaijan as part of their duties. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and additional benefits may be provided as per UNDP policies.
