Job Overview: The Community Economic Development Specialist will play a crucial role in the Inception Phase of the Indigenous Women and Girls – Leadership and Empowerment in Ancestral Domains (I-LEAD) Project. This project aims to address the significant economic and social disparities faced by Indigenous Peoples, particularly women and girls, in the Philippines. The specialist will be responsible for conducting technical studies and reviews to assess the current economic status and opportunities for Indigenous women and girls, as well as formulating strategies for economic empowerment. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and NGOs, to ensure that the initiatives are inclusive and culturally appropriate. The specialist will also lead the development of the Inception Report, incorporating tailored economic empowerment strategies and initiatives that align with the community's needs and cultural context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Community Economic Development Specialist include conducting comprehensive assessments of the economic status of Indigenous women and girls, identifying key economic sectors for enterprise development, and analyzing relevant international experiences. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing economic empowerment programs, experience working with Indigenous communities, and familiarity with the socio-economic issues affecting Indigenous women and girls. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with fluency in Filipino and excellent written and spoken English.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or higher in fields relevant to community economic development, economics, international development, or sustainable development. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of economic empowerment and community development, particularly in the context of Indigenous populations.
