Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator plays a crucial role in coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring the smooth implementation of programs and operations activities. This position is responsible for adhering to logistic, human resource, administration, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security procedures. The Field Coordinator represents Action Against Hunger to relevant stakeholders at the field office level and will support the pilot of the Seeds of Hope Initiative, contributing to the implementation of Food Security & Livelihood activities. The role requires strengthening the capacity of staff and local communities to design and implement activities aimed at preventing hunger induced by climate change. The Field Coordinator will also engage with local authorities and other organizations, actively participating in state-level clusters and humanitarian networks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator has a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Coordinating the implementation of Action Against Hunger's country strategy at the field level, ensuring collaboration with Programme Managers and Technical Specialists.
  • Overseeing the overall implementation of programs, including work plan development, spending forecasts, and monthly reviews with Programme Managers.
  • Coordinating proposal development and reporting, ensuring technical reviews are conducted before submission to the Program Director.
  • Managing logistics, finance, and human resources within the field office, ensuring compliance with procedures and addressing any issues in monthly reports.
  • Efficiently managing support costs and collaborating with the Finance Director to budget appropriately for grants.
  • Leading the field team, facilitating communication between field offices and head office, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Managing security at the field level, monitoring the security context, and making informed decisions regarding team movements.
  • Representing Action Against Hunger at the field level, liaising with UN, NGOs, and local authorities to ensure coordination of activities.
  • Supporting proposal development and reporting activities, ensuring high-quality technical and donor reporting across all program activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a master's degree in social, development, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of INGO experience in a management role is required, preferably as a Field Coordinator or Head of Base. Previous experience in security management and working in hardship locations is essential. Candidates should demonstrate good budgeting and grant management skills, as well as strong anticipation and planning abilities, especially in changing work contexts. Effective communication skills in diverse cultural environments are crucial, along with being highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure. Previous experience with Action Against Hunger and in running nutrition programs in emergency contexts is advantageous.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in social, development, humanitarian studies, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to effectively manage and implement programs aimed at combating hunger and addressing humanitarian needs.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an INGO management role, ideally as a Field Coordinator or Head of Base. Candidates should have a proven track record in security management and experience working in challenging environments. Familiarity with humanitarian principles and experience in logistics procedures are also important. Previous experience with Action Against Hunger is considered an added advantage, particularly in contexts involving nutrition programs during emergencies and in insecure environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the operational context may be considered beneficial, enhancing communication with local communities and partners.

Additional Notes:
The position is for a duration of 12 months and is classified at the AAH 10 level. The Field Coordinator will be required to work at least five days a week and may need to work outside normal office hours or on weekends as necessary. Regular travel within South Sudan is expected, and the role may involve working in physically demanding and stressful conditions.
