Job Overview:
The Communication Intern will participate in the implementation of the communication strategy of UNDP in Togo and contribute to promoting a positive image of the office. This role involves drafting press releases and meeting reports, editing communication materials, ensuring the visibility of UNDP/Togo on the internet and social media, and performing any other tasks assigned by the Communication Officer. The intern will be expected to engage in multimedia document creation, provide photographic and video coverage of UNDP/Togo activities, and manage the dissemination of news and information across various communication platforms. The position requires a proactive approach and a commitment to the values and mission of the United Nations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for drafting press releases and meeting minutes, editing communication materials such as brochures and flyers, and providing photographic coverage for publications. They will ensure the online presence and visibility of UNDP/Togo on social media platforms, create multimedia documents, and cover events through photography and videography as needed. The intern will also take notes and draft reports from communication team meetings, monitor social media for relevant publications, and contribute to the editing of strategic documents and promotional materials for the office. Additional tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be Togolese nationals and available for full-time work. The selected candidate is expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the responsibilities of an intern at UNDP/Togo, adhere to work schedules, maintain confidentiality regarding unpublished information, and not disclose reports or documents based on information obtained during the internship without authorization. They must also provide written notice in case of illness or other unavoidable circumstances that may prevent them from fulfilling their obligations, prepare a brief report on their internship experience, and participate in an exit interview before the internship concludes.
Educational Background:
A minimum educational requirement of a Bachelor's degree (BAC +3) in Communication, graphic design, or a related field is necessary for this position. This educational background will provide the foundational knowledge and skills required to effectively contribute to the communication efforts of UNDP/Togo.
Experience:
While specific prior experience is not explicitly required, candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the dynamic environment of UNDP. Experience in communication, media, or related fields through academic projects or internships will be beneficial and may enhance the candidate's application.
Languages:
A good command of French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is also required. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary languages for communication within the organization are French and English.
