Job Overview:
The Protection General Support 1 - PSS Facilitator will work under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader and in coordination with the Protection Officer. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate recreational and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support activities for children, youth, and adults at DRC’s Community Centers. The facilitator will also conduct awareness-raising activities and assist in creating a schedule of activities for the center. This position requires maintaining an organized and equipped space for activities and providing support to Community Center Facilitators. The role is crucial in promoting mental well-being and community engagement among vulnerable populations affected by conflict.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the PSS Facilitator include facilitating and organizing psychosocial support (PSS) and recreational activities at community centers, conducting information sharing and awareness sessions, assisting in the setup and organization of spaces and materials for activities, and collaborating with the Protection Officer to plan and maintain a schedule of activities. The facilitator will also identify community members to participate in activities, greet and register individuals accessing the center, raise awareness about activities, and refer community members needing additional assistance. Additionally, the facilitator will support the Protection Officer in producing weekly reports and maintaining adherence to data protection protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least one year of experience in facilitating recreational and psychosocial support activities for diverse age groups. They should have effective oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, and creativity. Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with individuals from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and show a strong interest in humanitarian work. Previous experience with international organizations is considered a significant advantage.

Educational Background:
A university degree in social work, education, or a closely related field is required. However, proven field experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in facilitating recreational and psychosocial support activities. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with community members and facilitate group activities.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The successful applicant will receive a contract until June 2025, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. The position is based in Lahj, and candidates must be available to start as soon as possible. The salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment, and the position is classified at Band J Non-Manager level, reporting to the Protection Manager.
