Job Overview:

Interns will work full-time in person in New York City, contributing to the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance. The role involves assisting in the implementation of the department's communications strategy, which includes creating and designing various communication products such as newsletters, reports, and multimedia content. Interns will gain valuable experience in a vibrant, international work environment while developing their skills in communication and design.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the communications strategy of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance. Key responsibilities include laying out newsletters and reports, drafting articles and blogs, coordinating events, and designing visual content for communication with stakeholders. Interns will also create posters, banners, and infographics, conduct research for printed and online materials, and assist in the editing of multimedia content. Additionally, they will help maintain and enhance the department's internal and external websites, ensuring that communication materials align with the department's visual identity.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific educational requirements, including being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree. While professional work experience is not mandatory, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Good knowledge of graphic design and communication software is desirable, along with the ability to draft news articles and social media posts. Experience with spreadsheets or similar software is required, and knowledge of data analytics is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic knowledge and skills related to communications and graphic design. Experience with graphic design software and communication tools will be beneficial for applicants.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of up to 35 hours per week.
