Job Overview:
The Protection Assistant (Social Worker) will work under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader, primarily responsible for delivering case management services within DRC Community Centers and other locations as needed. This role involves conducting protection assessments, developing case plans, mapping services, making internal and external referrals, and providing Cash for Protection and Individual Protection Assistance (IPA). The position requires a strong commitment to safeguarding the dignity and confidentiality of clients while ensuring compliance with DRC's standard operating procedures and international guidelines. The Protection Assistant will also engage in monitoring and reporting activities, collaborating with other sectors and NGOs to ensure a coordinated response to the needs of clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Assistant will provide case management services in line with DRC's SOPs and international standards, including assessing protection risks, developing and implementing case plans, and ensuring proper follow-up and case closure. Responsibilities include referring cases to appropriate services, providing Psychological First Aid (PFA), conducting awareness sessions for at-risk individuals and their families, and reporting complex cases to the Protection Officer. The role also involves identifying cases needing cash assistance, maintaining accurate records, and conducting outcome monitoring surveys. The Protection Assistant will produce weekly reports, maintain confidential case files, and participate in planning and evaluation activities. Coordination with other DRC sectors and external stakeholders is essential to ensure effective service delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess 1-2 years of experience in protection-related work, particularly in case management services for vulnerable adults. Previous experience in counseling or psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support is highly desirable. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and a commitment to non-discrimination and client safety. Candidates should demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure. A demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and experience with international organizations will be advantageous.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field is required. Proven field experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires 1-2 years of relevant experience in protection work, particularly in case management services. Experience providing counseling and psychosocial support is preferred, along with a strong understanding of basic counseling concepts and previous training in these areas.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, while proficiency in English is desirable. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to interact with clients and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The successful applicant will receive a contract until June 2025, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. The position is full-time, and the candidate must be available to start as soon as possible in Aden. Salary and conditions will align with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment, and the position is classified as Band (I Non-Manager).
