Job Overview: The Finance and Budget Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Budget Unit within the Mission Support Services of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance and Budget Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Preparing supporting documents for cost estimates and budget proposals, assisting supervisors in resource requirement elaboration.
Monitoring extra budgetary resources and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
Assisting in the preparation of budget performance submissions and reports, analyzing variances between budgets and actual expenditures.
Processing redeployment of fund requests according to established procedures.
Supporting the monitoring of budget expenditures to ensure they remain within authorized levels.
Reviewing current budget commitments for validity and carrying forward or canceling outstanding commitments as necessary.
Analyzing cost recovery proposals and providing recommendations to management.
Coordinating responses to cost recovery queries and maintaining detailed documentation of processes.
Analyzing cost plan amendment requests and making management recommendations. 1
Performing other related duties as assigned, demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and accountability throughout all tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a technical or vocational certificate in accounting, finance, budget, or related fields. A sound knowledge of financial principles and practices is essential, as well as the ability to conduct independent research and analysis.
