Job Overview: The position of Consultor/a is aimed at enhancing statistical capacity in Chile to measure Illicit Financial Flows (FFI) in accordance with methodologies established by the United Nations Statistical Commission. The consultant will work within the framework of the Development Account project, focusing on improving local authorities' capabilities to measure FFI through inter-institutional collaboration and raising awareness for policy formulation. The ultimate goal is to ensure sustainable measurement of FFI and enhance visibility of FFI in national policy agendas, contributing to the achievement of SDG 16.4.1.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will coordinate the development of an inventory of information sources relevant to measuring Illicit Financial Flows (FFI) in international trade. They will monitor the collection of information on exports and imports, ensuring comprehensive coverage in terms of quantity and value. Additionally, the consultant will collaborate in processing and evaluating the experimental calculation of potential Illicit Financial Flows in international trade, adhering to the conceptual and methodological design established by UNCTAD. The role involves engaging with local authorities to enhance their capabilities in measuring FFI, facilitating national working groups, and ensuring that FFI measurement is integrated into national policy frameworks. The consultant will also be responsible for producing reports that detail the findings and recommendations based on the collected data and analyses.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional degree in economics, finance, international trade, or statistics. A master's degree in economics is highly valued. A minimum of two years of experience in statistical analysis and management of economic and financial data, with a focus on trade, is required.
