Job Overview:
The TICAD Regional Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the UNDP's Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA), which supports African nations in addressing challenges such as inequalities, governance issues, climate change, and violence. The coordinator will be integrated within the TICAD Unit at UNDP Headquarters in New York, responsible for overseeing regional projects funded by Japan. This position involves coordinating the management and implementation of various projects, ensuring alignment with TICAD priorities, and facilitating collaboration between Japanese counterparts and UNDP country offices. The coordinator will also be involved in strategic planning for upcoming TICAD meetings and will support the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing Africa's startup ecosystem, trade, investment, and youth empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The TICAD Regional Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management and implementation of regional projects, ensuring that project targets and results are achieved. Key duties include monitoring project activities against established frameworks, leading project reporting and documentation, and ensuring compliance with financial and operational guidelines. The coordinator will also provide operational services, including financial management, procurement planning, and travel support. Additionally, the coordinator will manage donor reporting and communication, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of project progress and outcomes. The role requires collaboration with various teams within UNDP and external partners to facilitate effective project execution and resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, International Development, Project Management, Business Management, or a related field. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) combined with additional qualifying experience may also be considered. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in project management and programming at the national or international level is required, with a focus on operational management and quality assurance of development projects. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate financial resources effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in relevant fields such as International Relations, Political Science, International Development, Project Management, or Business Management. A Bachelor’s degree in these areas, combined with additional qualifying experience, will also be considered. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of international development and project management.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management and programming, particularly in the context of international development. This experience should include operational management and quality assurance of development projects. Familiarity with project financial management, including budget development and work planning, is also required. Experience working in developing country settings and with UNDP or other international organizations is preferred, as is knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

Languages:
