Job Overview: The position of Individual Consultant to provide Graphics Design Services involves delivering high-quality graphics design solutions for various projects undertaken by UNDP in Uganda. The consultant will be responsible for creating visually appealing designs that effectively communicate the intended messages and objectives of the projects. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to meet deadlines and deliverables. The consultant will be expected to provide innovative design concepts, produce graphics for reports, presentations, and promotional materials, and ensure that all designs align with UNDP's branding guidelines. The assignment is for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance, up to a maximum of two years. The consultant will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in their design approach to cater to the diverse needs of UNDP's projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Consultant providing Graphics Design Services include but are not limited to:
Collaborating with project teams to understand design requirements and objectives.
Developing creative design concepts and presenting them to stakeholders for feedback.
Producing high-quality graphics for various formats including print and digital media.
Ensuring that all designs adhere to UNDP's branding and visual identity guidelines.
Revising designs based on feedback and making necessary adjustments to meet project goals.
Managing multiple design projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
Providing technical support and guidance on design-related issues to project teams.
Staying updated on design trends and tools to enhance the quality of work.
Preparing final design files for production and distribution. 1
Documenting the design process and maintaining records of design assets.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the position include:
Proven experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other relevant tools.
Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
Familiarity with UNDP's mission and values is an advantage.
A creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and propose innovative design solutions.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes:
A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field.
Additional certifications or training in graphic design or related disciplines will be considered an asset.
Continuous professional development in design trends and software is encouraged to maintain a competitive edge in the field.
Experience: The level of experience needed for the position includes:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design or a related field.
Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred.
