Job Overview: The Communications and Event Management Analyst will play a crucial role in the Regional Youth Empowerment Portfolio, focusing on developing and implementing communications campaigns and activities that support youth empowerment in climate action and governance. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including UNDP country offices, to ensure the timely delivery of project components. The Analyst will be responsible for creating and managing digital media strategies, overseeing social media platforms, and ensuring effective communication strategies are in place to enhance the visibility of the Youth Co:Lab Project. The role also involves coordinating events, managing logistics, and engaging with young people and other partners to curate impactful agendas for youth-focused events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will report to the Regional Youth and Civil Society Specialist and work closely with the Regional Communications Advisor and Regional Youth Project Manager. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the planning and design of internal and external communication strategies.
Implementing the communications work plan for the Youth Co:Lab Project, monitoring progress, and updating stakeholders on campaigns.
Leading the digital media strategy, managing social media platforms, and ensuring effective content dissemination.
Conducting data collection and analysis of communications activities to adapt strategies for maximum outreach.
Developing communication materials such as newsletters, press releases, and multimedia content.
Coordinating event management, including logistics, speaker engagement, and production of event documents.
Supporting the UNDP regional youth empowerment portfolio through communications and media activities.
Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Organizational Communication, Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two years of relevant experience will be considered. Applicants should have prior experience in developing communication strategies and campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and event management, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Proficiency in multimedia tools and productivity platforms is essential, along with a strong understanding of youth socio-economic empowerment principles.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Organizational Communication, Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the stated areas, combined with two years of qualifying experience, will also be considered. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication and event management within the context of youth empowerment and climate action.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience at the national or international level in public relations, advocacy, or communications for candidates with a bachelor’s degree. Those with a master’s degree are not required to have prior work experience. Experience in developing communication strategies, stakeholder engagement, and event management in the Asia-Pacific region is highly desirable. Familiarity with youth empowerment initiatives and the ability to work with diverse teams across different countries will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and contribute to UNDP's global mission.
Additional Notes: The position is full-time and involves a performance-based contract with regular assessments by UNDP.
