Job Overview:
In this consultancy role, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in the management and coordination of aggregation and pro-smallholder purchases within WFP Ukraine. Reporting directly to the Head of Livelihoods and Food Systems, the incumbent will be responsible for the daily planning and coordination of WFP Programme Operations. This position requires close collaboration with the Supply Chain Procurement team and involves managing relationships with various stakeholders, including farmers, agribusiness players, producer associations, UN agencies, and government departments. The incumbent will contribute to the implementation of WFP Ukraine’s Livelihoods and Food Systems Strategy, focusing on establishing a traceability system and increasing pro-smallholder procurement from Ukraine. The role will also involve frequent field travel to engage with local partners and assess the impact of WFP's initiatives on food security and livelihoods in affected communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
  • Operationalizing WFP Ukraine’s 2025-2027 Food Systems and Livelihoods Strategy, particularly the pillar focused on traceability and pro-smallholder procurement.
  • Managing partnerships with small-scale farmers and agribusinesses to enhance WFP’s procurement from local producers.
  • Coordinating with small-scale farmers to establish sourcing entry points for WFP’s basket of commodities.
  • Leading project proposal preparations for the WFP Ukraine Agri-Hub model in collaboration with the Partnerships team.
  • Managing relationships related to the development and implementation of the Agri-Hub model.
  • Collaborating with partners like the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to advocate for small-scale farmers and SMEs in frontline areas.
  • Contributing to the sourcing plan and defining pro-smallholder targets in coordination with the Procurement team.
  • Analyzing data and preparing timely reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to support decision-making and stakeholder communication.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Agribusiness, Logistics, Food Systems, Economics, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years of postgraduate professional experience in the agri-business and agriculture sector is required. Experience in humanitarian or development assistance, particularly with the UN or NGOs, is considered an asset. Familiarity with implementing agribusiness activities in Ukraine is desirable, along with experience in commercial or humanitarian supply chain sectors, including monitoring agri-market conditions and coordinating procurement with farmers. Proficiency in corporate systems, databases, and software is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Agribusiness, Logistics, Food Systems, or Economics. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of food systems and the agricultural sector, particularly in the context of humanitarian assistance and development.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of postgraduate professional experience in the agri-business and agriculture sector. Experience working in humanitarian or development assistance, especially with the UN or NGOs, is highly valued. Candidates with experience in implementing agribusiness activities in Ukraine will have a competitive advantage. Familiarity with the commercial or humanitarian supply chain sectors, including monitoring and reporting on agri-market conditions, is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the role in the Ukrainian context.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a Consultancy Contract, Level II, and is part-time when actually employed (WAE), with an expectation of approximately 15 days of work per month. The contract duration is 11 months, with the possibility of renewal. The position is open only to international candidates (non-Ukrainian).
