Job Overview: The position of Translator involves the critical task of translating a comprehensive 54,000-word training material from English to Spanish. The translator is expected to ensure that the translation is not only accurate but also maintains the intended meaning and context of the original text. The training material covers essential modules related to care and support systems, focusing on disability and gender responsiveness. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Translator include:
Translating the entire document from English to Spanish, ensuring that all content is accurately represented.
Maintaining linguistic accuracy, fluency, and technical appropriateness throughout the translation process.
Ensuring consistency in terminology and style across the document to uphold the integrity of the training material.
Delivering a high-quality, proofread final version of the translation by the specified deadline.
Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to clarify any ambiguities in the source material and to ensure that the translation meets the required standards.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications: - A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in English to Spanish translation. - Native Spanish speaker with a high level of proficiency in English, demonstrating professional bilingualism. - Proven experience in translating training materials, particularly those related to human rights or developed by international organizations such as the United Nations. - Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within tight deadlines.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant educational background in translation, linguistics, or a related field. A degree or certification in translation or a similar discipline is preferred, as it provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective translation work.
