Job Overview: The Information Analyst in the Political Affairs Service will play a crucial role in monitoring and analyzing developments relevant to the implementation of the UN Mission's mandate in Libya. This position requires the incumbent to collect and analyze data from various sources, including UN components, national authorities, and civil society, to produce timely and accurate analytical products. The role involves synthesizing information to identify trends and forecasts, maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, and supporting high-level political meetings and visits. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Monitor, identify, and analyze developments/events relevant to the Mission mandate through data collection from multiple sources.
Classify, manage, store, and transfer information using available information management processes.
Organize, analyze, and synthesize information to identify trends and produce forecasts and assessments.
Produce analytical products, briefings, and notes in coordination with other Mission components.
Develop and maintain relationships with UN colleagues, government representatives, and civil society actors for information-sharing and policy coordination.
Support preparations for high-level visits and political meetings by drafting talking points and speeches.
Maintain a system for classifying and storing confidential information.
Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical skills and experience in information collection and management. Excellent drafting and editing skills are essential, along with the ability to produce cogent reports. The candidate should demonstrate proven analytical ability and experience in building information networks in complex environments. The ability to integrate various perspectives into analytical products and coordinate with diverse actors is crucial. Candidates should also show professionalism, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, foreign affairs, law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience and relevant academic/professional qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, journalism, development, or security is required. Experience in research, information analysis, and drafting analytical products is essential. Familiarity with the Middle East and North African region is required, along with experience in conflict or post-conflict settings, particularly in countries undergoing political transition. Proven experience related to Libya is desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written) is required for this position. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
