Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the UNODC Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB), which focuses on the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). The intern will gain valuable experience in legal research, the functioning of intergovernmental bodies, and the mechanisms for reviewing the implementation of international treaties. The role is designed to provide insights into the workings of the UN and its efforts to combat corruption globally. Interns will be expected to engage in various research activities, assist in drafting legal documents, and support the overall mission of the CEB in promoting anti-corruption measures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in conducting legal research into States' efforts for implementing UNCAC; selecting and analyzing relevant materials; conducting thematic research in areas pertinent to the Convention; reviewing legal documents and identifying key issues; drafting correspondence to States parties; and performing other duties as assigned. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn about the UNODC Global Programme Against Corruption and engage with thematic workstreams such as judicial integrity, whistle-blower protection, and anti-corruption education.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a recognized first-level degree or be enrolled in a graduate school program. Applicants should meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Additionally, candidates should be computer literate in standard software applications, demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or having completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. Applicants must provide official written proof from their university supporting their eligibility for the internship.

Experience:
No prior working experience is required to apply for this internship. However, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship position they are applying for. This could include areas such as law, international relations, or public policy, among others.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge or fluency in another official United Nations language, such as French, is considered an advantage and is highly desirable for candidates.

This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week (40 hours). The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months.
