The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) was established in 1999 under the auspices of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). Its mission is to support the Government of the DRC in protecting civilians and stabilizing the region through various initiatives. The organization aims to reduce the threats posed by armed groups and violence against civilians, including sexual and gender-based violence. Job Overview:
The Property Disposal Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Property Disposal Unit. The role involves assisting in the organization and planning of the disposal of various materials, including fixed assets, equipment, and waste materials. The assistant will participate in inspections for property proposed for write-off, update inventory management systems, and create electronic transactions in the UMOJA system to reflect property removals. The position requires running reports from the Business Intelligence portal to support decision-making and verifying the status of materials. The assistant will also help organize the bidding process for lots approved for sale and ensure compliance with UN disposal procedures. This role is crucial for maintaining effective supply chain management and ensuring that all disposal activities adhere to UN rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Property Disposal Assistant include:
  • Assisting in organizing and planning the disposal of written-off materials, including fixed assets and waste.
  • Participating in the Board of Survey for inspecting property proposed for write-off.
  • Updating the inventory management system after receiving materials proposed for write-off.
  • Creating electronic transactions in UMOJA to reflect property removals and financial changes.
  • Assisting in cycle counts of inventories within the Property Disposal Unit (PDU) warehouse and other locations.
  • Running reports from the Business Intelligence portal to support decision-making.
  • Organizing the bidding process for lots approved for commercial sale and ensuring compliance with UN regulations.
  • Drafting Statements of Work for waste disposal contracts.
  • Managing waste disposal contracts and monitoring their financial status. 1
  • Following up on disposal transactions with Procurement, Finance, and the Property Control and Inventory Unit. 1
  • Ensuring that all disposal procedures are correctly applied according to UN rules. 1
  • Maintaining cleanliness and effective space management in the warehouse and disposal yard. 1
  • Assisting in the procurement process for commercial bidding on materials approved for sale. 1
  • Providing capacity development for national staff and partners through coaching and training. 1
  • Performing any other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Property Disposal Assistant position include strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Candidates should possess a good understanding of inventory management systems and experience with procurement processes. Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Knowledge of local languages such as Lingala, Kikongo, Tshiluba, or Swahili would be an advantage, as it enhances interaction with local communities and stakeholders.
