Job Overview:
The position of Multimedia Content and Communications Consultant is crucial for the Independent Institution as it seeks to enhance its communication strategies and outreach efforts. The consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing an awareness-raising campaign that targets families of missing persons and survivors. This role requires specialized skills in communications and outreach, particularly within the context of the MENA region. The consultant will work closely with the Independent Institution team to create engaging audio/visual content and develop targeted messaging that resonates with impacted communities. Additionally, the consultant will produce a final report that summarizes the campaign's results, challenges faced, and lessons learned, ensuring that the findings contribute to future initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Creating and maintaining audio/visual content such as short videos, reels, social media cards, and brochures in collaboration with the Independent Institution team, particularly the Public Information Officer.
  • Supporting the design, creation, translation, and implementation of an awareness-raising campaign, which includes developing a timeline, sequencing outputs, and formulating dissemination strategies.
  • Producing a comprehensive report at the end of the consultancy that outlines key achievements, challenges encountered, and recommendations for future work.
  • Engaging with various stakeholders, including civil society organizations and international bodies, to ensure effective communication and outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first degree in journalism, international relations, social sciences, or a field related to human rights. Additionally, they should have at least five years of professional experience in communication, outreach, and public information, with a focus on digital communication and social media in humanitarian contexts or human rights issues. A minimum of three years of experience in public information and outreach campaigns conducted in the Arabic language is essential, along with coordination experience with multiple actors, including civil society organizations and international bodies. Substantive experience related to the situation in Syria is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first degree in journalism, international relations, social sciences, or a related field that emphasizes human rights. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complexities of communication in humanitarian settings and the nuances of outreach to affected communities.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically at least five years in communication, outreach, and public information roles. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in digital communication and social media, particularly in contexts related to humanitarian issues or human rights. Furthermore, a minimum of three years of experience in public information and outreach campaigns in the Arabic language is mandatory, along with experience coordinating with various stakeholders, including civil society organizations and international bodies. Experience working on issues related to Syria is highly advantageous.

Languages:
