Job Overview: The position of Roster - Conference Interpreter (I-1/I-2 level) involves providing interpretation services during ITU conferences, meetings, and field missions. Duties and Responsibilities: The Conference Interpreter will be responsible for providing interpretation services, which includes both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during ITU conferences and meetings. Team collaboration is essential, as the interpreter will work as part of a team of interpreters and may lead the team when required. Additionally, the interpreter is expected to apply core competencies such as effective communication, teamwork, and organizational commitment, while also demonstrating functional competencies like analysis, judgment, decision-making, client orientation, and planning.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Interpretation, Translation, Linguistics, Languages, or a related field. Alternatively, a diploma equivalent to a university degree from a recognized college of advanced education in one of these fields is acceptable. The role requires at least one year of experience in conference (simultaneous) interpretation, with experience in remote interpretation platforms considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in simultaneous interpretation and have digital fluency with computer hardware and software, as well as knowledge of video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as Interpretation, Translation, Linguistics, or Languages. Candidates with diplomas from reputable colleges that are equivalent to a university degree in these areas are also eligible. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of language interpretation and translation in a conference setting.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least one year of experience in conference interpretation, specifically in simultaneous interpretation. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the interpreter can perform effectively under the pressures of live events.
