Job Overview:
The Senior Social Media Officer plays a crucial role within the Corporate Communication Division (CCD) of ITU, serving as the strategic lead for the organization's social media presence. This position involves developing and executing content and strategies that amplify the Secretary-General's vision and enhance global engagement. The officer is responsible for managing social media activities for both the Secretary-General and ITU, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, safeguarding brand reputation, and utilizing data-driven insights to optimize performance. The role also includes establishing social media policies to protect and grow ITU's online influence and fostering community engagement across digital platforms. The officer must stay updated with social media trends and best practices to drive optimization of ITU content and engagement strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will manage ITU and the Secretary-General's social media accounts, creating content and developing strategies to convey the Secretary-General's vision, amplify thought leadership, and elevate the organization's profile. Responsibilities include developing and executing a social media content strategy aligned with ITU's Strategic Plan, planning and driving the creation of engaging visual, audio, and written content, advising ITU officials and regional offices on effective social media activities, establishing social media governance, monitoring social conversations, safeguarding the ITU brand, measuring and analyzing social media performance, and staying updated with trends to optimize content and engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, marketing, or a related field. Alternatively, education from a reputed college with a diploma equivalent to an advanced degree in one of the specified fields may be accepted. For internal candidates, a first university degree in one of the fields combined with ten years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree for promotion or rotation purposes.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in social media, including work in an editorial or communications team, with a minimum of three years at the international level. A Doctorate in a related field can substitute for three years of working experience.

Languages:
Knowledge of one of the six official languages of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) at an advanced level is mandatory, along with knowledge of a second official language at an intermediate level. Knowledge of a third official language would be advantageous. A relaxation of language requirements may be authorized for candidates from developing countries who possess thorough knowledge of one official language.

Additional Notes:
The position is a fixed-term contract for two years with the possibility of renewal. The recruitment is open to external candidates. The total annual salary consists of a net annual salary in US dollars and a post adjustment (cost of living allowance), with an annual salary starting from $84,672 plus a post adjustment of $76,20
