Job Overview:
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Expert will play a crucial role in strengthening institutional capacity by providing technical guidance and developing a global campaign focused on youth mental health and wellbeing. This position involves conducting comprehensive reviews of existing mental health initiatives at various levels, mapping potential partners for collaboration, and creating a toolkit aimed at UN and partner organizations. The expert will also be responsible for formulating a global campaign strategy and producing a policy brief with actionable recommendations. The role is pivotal in addressing the mental health challenges faced by young people and ensuring their voices are heard in global discussions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough review of global frameworks and data related to mental health and wellbeing, particularly among youth.
  • Map stakeholders, including UN entities, member states, civil society organizations, and the private sector, focusing on their contributions to mental health initiatives and identifying existing gaps.
  • Collaborate in designing a Global Campaign and call to action centered on Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing.
  • Establish media partnerships to effectively disseminate information regarding mental health and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate cross-collaboration among successful youth mental health interventions, particularly those supported by the UN at the national level.
  • Produce a comprehensive policy brief that includes concrete recommendations for improving mental health and wellbeing for youth.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, public health, mental health and wellbeing, education, youth development, psychology, or related disciplines. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two years of professional experience and relevant academic qualifications may be accepted. A minimum of five years of professional experience in areas such as mental health, youth development, policy research, or advocacy is required. Experience in stakeholder mapping, policy analysis, and campaign development is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in social sciences, public health, mental health and wellbeing, education, youth development, psychology, or other related fields is essential for this position. Candidates with a first-level university degree and relevant professional experience may also be considered, provided they meet the experience requirements.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in mental health, youth development, policy research, or advocacy. Candidates should have a proven track record in stakeholder mapping, policy analysis, and campaign development, demonstrating their ability to contribute effectively to the role.

Languages:
