The Border Management Branch, established in April 2022, aims to deliver comprehensive border management technical assistance and includes various programs such as AIRCOP, CCP, GMCP, CRIMJUST, and the Global Programme on Crimes that Affect the Environment.

Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer is designed for individuals who are interested in gaining experience in research, data analysis, content strategy, and communication within the context of transnational organized crime. The selected volunteer will work remotely under the supervision of a staff member and will be involved in supporting the Global Programme on Criminal Network Disruption (GPCD) by conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis. This role will provide the volunteer with the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge related to transnational crime, illicit trafficking, and law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, particularly in the area of international cooperation in criminal investigations and prosecutions. The volunteer will be expected to communicate regularly via email, phone, messaging, and videoconferencing applications to ensure effective collaboration with the project team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Development of a research paper based on the provided datasets.
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis to support the GPCD-CRIMJUST project team.
  • Regularly updating the project team on progress during scheduled calls.
  • Building connections with the GPCD-CRIMJUST team at UNODC to enhance understanding of how data can aid in criminal network disruption.
  • Collaborating with the law enforcement focal point for West Africa and the operational analysis team to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Engaging in discussions and providing insights based on the analysis conducted.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and a keen interest in research related to organized crime and criminal justice. Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies is essential. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting is crucial. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate regular updates and discussions with the project team.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, criminology, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of research methodologies and data analysis techniques. Relevant coursework or experience in criminal justice or transnational crime will be advantageous.

Experience:
