Established in April 2014, MINUSCA was authorized by the UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council to address the security, humanitarian, human rights, and political crises in the Central African Republic (CAR). The mission's primary objective is the protection of civilians, alongside supporting the transition process, facilitating humanitarian assistance, promoting and protecting human rights, and supporting justice and the rule of law. MINUSCA has a significant presence with approximately 11,650 military personnel and 2,080 police personnel, all working towards creating political, security, and institutional conditions that sustainably reduce the threat posed by armed groups. The mission also integrates the functions of the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in CAR (BINUCA).

Job Overview:
The position of Technicien en Eau et Assainissement involves the daily operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) and the sewage management system. The technician will work under the direct supervision of the head of the Water and Sanitation Unit or the sector engineer, with general oversight from the chief engineering section. The role requires conducting routine analyses of wastewater samples in accordance with manufacturer manuals, guidelines, specifications, and environmental standards. The technician will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and repairing various components of the WWTP, including membranes, mechanical and electrical components, pumps, UV lamps, panels, septic tanks, and lift station modules. This position is crucial for ensuring the effective functioning of wastewater treatment processes and maintaining environmental standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Technicien en Eau et Assainissement include: performing daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair services on membranes, mechanical and electrical components of wastewater treatment stations, pumps, UV lamps, panels, septic tanks, and lift station modules; operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants; conducting weekly cleaning of septic tanks and surrounding areas; checking pumps in septic tanks; cleaning air filters in fans; cleaning grease traps with water jets and performing regular backwashing of membranes; conducting monthly cleaning of septic tanks, removing grease from septic tank chambers, and clearing obstructions; removing sludge and solid waste from the bottom of septic tanks and lift stations; checking pump operations; cleaning UV light sleeves; performing regular membrane cleaning, including chemical cleaning and general pump maintenance; recording all maintenance activities performed during the month, such as pump replacements, backwashing, and membrane cleaning/replacement; and conducting wastewater sampling.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include a strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and systems, proficiency in maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical components, and the ability to conduct routine analyses of wastewater samples.
