Job Overview:
The Chief of Section, Medical is responsible for overseeing the medical services within the mission. This role involves planning, organizing, managing, and supervising medical services, ensuring that medical support activities are effectively executed. The incumbent will supervise medical staff, evaluate their performance, and manage the recruitment process for new medical personnel. Additionally, the Chief will prepare budgets, control finances, and ensure the optimal use of resources. The position also requires the procurement of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring that all medical facilities are adequately stocked and operational. The Chief will act as an advisor on medical matters, establish training programs to enhance the medical capabilities of the staff, and ensure compliance with UN directives. Clinical duties include managing day-to-day clinical operations, conducting medical examinations, and providing health education and promotion programs. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chief of Section, Medical will undertake a variety of managerial and clinical responsibilities. Managerial duties include planning and organizing medical services, supervising medical staff, evaluating performance, preparing budgets, procuring medical supplies, and ensuring compliance with UN directives. The Chief will also manage the interface between the medical section and various stakeholders, including senior management and external medical professionals. The Chief will ensure the implementation of infection control measures and follow UN policies regarding medical clearances and evacuations. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Doctorate (MD) or equivalent in medicine, including completion of a residency or internship in a medical specialty. Registration to practice medicine in their home country or another UN member state is mandatory. Training in Tropical Medicine is desirable, and candidates should have a strong understanding of medical practices and protocols relevant to the mission's context.

Educational Background:
A Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or equivalent is required for this position. This educational background should include comprehensive training in clinical medicine, with a focus on areas relevant to the mission's health needs. Additional training in specialties such as Tropical Medicine is considered an asset.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible clinical experience, with at least five years of combined clinical and management experience in a medical field. This experience should demonstrate a strong ability to manage medical services and lead healthcare teams effectively, particularly in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and French is required, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages, both orally and in writing, to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
