Job Overview: The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Caseworker plays a crucial role in addressing barriers to safety and wellness for vulnerable populations, including refugees, asylees, and other ORR-eligible individuals. This position requires the caseworker to provide strengths-based, client-centered case management tailored to the unique needs of various client groups, such as single-headed refugee households, survivors of domestic violence, older refugees, youth without guardians, and those with mental health or physical challenges. The ICM caseworker collaborates closely with clients, colleagues, and external partners to create individualized service plans that align with client needs and preferences, utilizing a wide array of resources and services in accordance with eligibility and program requirements. The role demands a proactive approach to client engagement and support, ensuring that clients receive the necessary assistance to navigate complex systems and achieve their self-sufficiency goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ICM Caseworker's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: determining client eligibility for ICM programming, conducting intake assessments, and reviewing program expectations with potential clients. They will develop individualized, SMART self-sufficiency plans for each enrolled client and evaluate client progress every six months to adjust plans as necessary. The caseworker will assist clients in navigating healthcare and social service systems, including applying for benefits and scheduling appointments. Community outreach is essential, as the caseworker must maintain a robust network of service providers to meet client needs and foster relationships with local and state refugee coordinators. Additionally, the caseworker will provide clients with extended orientation on various topics, respond to client crises, assist with financial assistance requests, and maintain accurate documentation in client case files. Participation in relevant trainings and meetings is expected, and the caseworker may also train and lead volunteers and interns.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills, demonstrating the ability to effectively establish internal and external relationships. Successful communication in a multi-cultural environment is essential, along with being a self-starter with excellent problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in work products is crucial. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required, and proficiency in languages spoken by the client group, such as Dari or Pashto, is preferred. Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field of study is preferred for this position. Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of case management experience, particularly with similar populations and client needs.
