Job Overview:
The Health Promotion Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing health education initiatives aimed at refugees and migrants. This position requires collaboration with the Senior Resettlement Manager to develop and implement health education and healthcare navigation workshops. The coordinator will be responsible for creating culturally appropriate educational materials and ensuring that clients receive the necessary support in navigating public benefits and health services. This role also involves supervising a team of Healthcare & Benefits Navigators, fostering partnerships with community organizations, and maintaining compliance with grant requirements. The coordinator will track project activities, compile data, and draft reports to meet donor specifications, ensuring that the organization’s objectives are met effectively. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying client needs and addressing any barriers to accessing health services, thereby enhancing the overall health literacy of the refugee and migrant population served.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Health Promotion Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: staying informed about public benefits eligibility for refugees and migrants; supervising and training Healthcare & Benefits Navigators; ensuring timely and culturally appropriate healthcare coordination; resolving billing issues with medical services; maintaining partnerships with community organizations; planning and implementing health education workshops; developing health literacy materials; supporting staff in making appropriate referrals; creating assessment tools to evaluate health knowledge and access; tracking project activities and ensuring compliance with donor requirements; conducting quality assurance on case files and data management systems; representing the organization at relevant meetings; and liaising with service providers to facilitate client access to public benefits. The coordinator will also be expected to comply with all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to child safeguarding.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree in a related field or have five years of experience in health-related case management or health promotion, particularly within diverse or migrant communities. A Master’s degree in Public Health or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s core values and possess strong leadership skills that foster collaboration among individuals from various cultural backgrounds. Experience working with refugees or immigrants, as well as knowledge of community health programming, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with web-based data entry systems are also required. The candidate should be highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks, and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Educational Background:
The position requires an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as public health, social work, or a related discipline. Alternatively, candidates with five years of relevant experience in health-related case management or health promotion may also be considered. A Master’s degree in Public Health or a similar advanced degree is strongly preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and knowledge in the field.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of professional work experience, preferably in public health, non-profit organizations, or social services. Experience working directly with refugees and immigrants is highly valued, as is familiarity with community health initiatives and programming. The ability to coordinate health promotion efforts and engage in community-based research is also important for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Bilingual abilities in languages such as Spanish, French, Russian, Haitian Creole, Dari, or Pashto are preferred, as they enhance communication with diverse client populations. Strong cross-cultural understanding and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this position.
