Job Overview: The Malaria and NTD Data Analyst position at CHAI is designed for a highly motivated individual with a background in public health and expertise in epidemiological data analysis. The role involves planning and conducting analyses of malaria and neglected tropical disease (NTD) data, translating results into actionable insights, and communicating findings to various stakeholders, including government programs and academic partners. The analyst will work closely with CHAI's Global, Regional, and Country Malaria and NTD Teams, contributing to the strengthening of routine data review activities. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a commitment to improving health programs through innovative and pragmatic applications of epidemiological expertise. This role is crucial in supporting countries to scale effective interventions and ultimately reduce the burden of malaria and NTDs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Malaria and NTD Data Analyst include providing regional analytics support (70% of the role) and regional data review and surveillance support (30% of the role). In terms of analytics support, the analyst will collaborate with CHAI teams and national programs to identify analytical needs, develop data analysis plans, conduct various analyses of malaria and NTD data, and translate findings into programmatic recommendations. The analyst will also liaise with academic partners on advanced analytics and communicate analytical outputs effectively. For data review and surveillance support, the analyst will work with country teams to monitor epidemiological data, enhance data review forums, strengthen data review tools, and support the development of malaria and NTD information systems. Additionally, the analyst will help cultivate a culture of data use within programs and document lessons learned for knowledge management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field, along with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in epidemiological data analysis and public health decision-making. A strong understanding of malaria, NTDs, and global infectious disease issues is essential, as well as proficiency in statistical analysis programs such as R, Stata, Python, or SAS. Experience with mapping and geospatial analysis software is also required. The candidate should have strong project management skills, the ability to work independently in remote settings, and exceptional communication skills. A willingness to travel up to 50% of the time is necessary for this role.
