Its mission is to support the newly independent Republic of South Sudan in achieving sustainable peace and stability. Job Overview:
The Administrative Officer position is crucial for the effective functioning of the FAO Front Office within UNMISS. The role involves coordinating various administrative processes, providing guidance to staff on human resources, finance, budget, transport, supply, and logistics procedures. The officer will be responsible for consolidating and submitting monthly reports from different sections to the FAO for clearance and forwarding them to the DDMS office in Juba. The position requires prioritizing urgent correspondence and visitors, ensuring timely responses, and organizing documentation for weekly meetings. Additionally, the officer will support welfare-related activities, coordinate programs to promote personnel well-being, and ensure compliance with environmental policies. This role is essential for maintaining effective communication between UN Volunteers, the UNV Support Office, and Field Office leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Coordinating activities of the FAO Front Office and guiding staff on administrative processes.
  • Consolidating monthly reports from various sections and submitting them for clearance.
  • Prioritizing urgent correspondence and visitors, ensuring timely responses.
  • Organizing and documenting minutes for weekly meetings.
  • Supporting welfare-related activities and preparing necessary reports.
  • Coordinating welfare programs to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of personnel.
  • Ensuring adherence to environmental policies and conducting assessments for compliance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment. They should demonstrate accountability, adaptability, and professionalism. A commitment to continuous learning and respect for diversity is essential. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in administrative roles, preferably within international organizations or NGOs. Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in South Sudan, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.

The position is based in Juba, South Sudan, and is classified as a non-family duty station. Candidates should be prepared for austere living conditions, including shared accommodation and basic facilities.
