Job Overview:
The National Focal Point Assistant for the SDG Stories Project in Jordan will play a crucial role in supporting the ESCWA Stories Team's mission to mainstream the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among young people in the Arab region. This position involves identifying schools, particularly in rural and marginalized areas, to participate in the SDG Stories Phase IV initiative. The assistant will facilitate collaboration between public and private schools, conduct field visits, and organize events that promote the SDGs. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders, including schools, municipalities, and civil society organizations. The assistant will also contribute to the development of training sessions and practical projects aimed at integrating SDGs into educational curricula and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Focal Point Assistant will be responsible for a range of duties, including: acting as the primary liaison between ESCWA, the Jordanian Ministry of Education, and beneficiary schools; identifying 14 target schools for the SDG Stories Initiative; advising schools and stakeholders on SDG-related activities; facilitating information flow between ESCWA and schools; participating in field visits; assisting in the planning and organization of events such as the sub-regional student-led forum on SDGs; promoting intergenerational dialogue and global citizenship among participants; and establishing partnerships with civil society and the private sector to support the initiative.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a recognized first-level degree in education, sociology, psychology, social service, international relations, political science, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must have at least 5 years of proven work experience with schools, NGOs, local governments, and international organizations on projects related to education, science, and culture. Experience working with public and private schools in Jordan is highly desirable, as is experience with NGOs. Candidates must submit a copy of their educational degree, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first-level degree in relevant fields such as education, sociology, psychology, social service, international relations, or political science. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of educational systems and the implementation of SDG initiatives within schools.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in roles that involve collaboration with schools, NGOs, local governments, and international organizations. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in managing projects related to education, science, and culture, with a preference for those who have experience working specifically in Jordan's educational landscape.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is the working language of ESCWA. Fluency is defined as being able to speak, read, write, and understand the language at a high level, while knowledge indicates a confident ability in at least two of the four language skills.
