Job Overview: The Associate will play a crucial role in driving technology adoption and improving data systems within malaria and neglected tropical disease (NTD) control programs across Francophone West Africa. This position requires a highly motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively to enhance the effectiveness of public health campaigns through better tools and data. The Associate will engage with various stakeholders, including Ministry of Health programs and local partners, to understand user requirements and provide guidance on digital solutions. The role involves strategic thinking, project management, and a commitment to achieving significant health outcomes in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Associate will be responsible for several key areas:
Strategic Guidance and Stakeholder Engagement (20%): Engage with Ministry of Health programs and partners to understand user requirements for malaria/NTD surveillance. Provide guidance on the design and application of digital tools to address public health challenges. Communicate technical approaches to non-technical staff and serve as a thought leader on digital strategies.
Technology Project Management (40%): Support technical project management, including requirements gathering, solution design, and system configuration. Manage technology vendors and ensure product developments align with requirements. Directly configure data collection and reporting tools as needed.
Technology Implementation (40%): Develop system roll-out plans, support installation and operational readiness, and build digital capacity within government staff. Cultivate a culture of data use by ensuring data visualizations are clear and actionable. Develop sustainability plans for long-term success of digital health interventions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as information systems, epidemiology, public health, or computer science. They should have at least three years of experience in roles such as business analyst, product manager, or technical project manager, with a focus on technology initiatives. Proficiency in both English and French is required, along with exceptional communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate strategic thinking, the ability to work independently, and a strong work ethic.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required. Candidates from other industries may also apply, provided they meet the experience criteria. Relevant fields include information systems, epidemiology, public health, and computer science.
Experience: At least three years of working experience in roles that involve defining and delivering business requirements for technology initiatives is essential.
