The individual contractor will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Conference Management Unit, ensuring that all audio-visual equipment is properly installed, operated, and maintained during events. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work efficiently under pressure, as the technician will be responsible for ensuring that all technical aspects of the meetings run smoothly. The position is expected to be flexible, with work required on an as-needed basis throughout the year, depending on the scheduling of events.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Conference Technician include:
Assisting in the installation, setup, and operation of all audio and visual equipment during meetings and events at UNCC.
Ensuring proper operation and maintenance of all audio and visual equipment and systems in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Operating, installing, assembling, repairing, and servicing simultaneous interpretation equipment, video camera equipment, computers, public address (PA) systems, and digital signage systems.
Configuring and operating online streaming services to facilitate virtual participation in meetings.
Performing other related duties as required to support the successful execution of meetings and conferences.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, candidates must have at least three years of responsible experience in conference support, sound engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, or related fields. If the candidate has graduated with a first-level university degree, only one year of experience is required. Experience in organizing virtual or hybrid meetings is essential, and familiarity with streaming audio and video files over the internet is desirable. Candidates should also have knowledge of installing and upgrading software applications and experience servicing meetings organized by the UN or other organizations. Proficiency in working with online meeting platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom is also desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree may substitute for some of the required experience, indicating that higher education is valued and can enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in fields such as conference support, sound engineering, electrical engineering, or information technology.
