Job Overview:
The Volunteer, Immunization will play a crucial role in managing state-level engagement with government and non-government stakeholders, focusing on the urban immunization project in India. This position requires the individual to support the government stakeholders and WJCF’s program leadership in expanding project support into new thematic areas and geographies. The role is based in Bhopal and involves leading a learning agenda to better understand urban contexts and designing innovative solutions for complex immunization and public health challenges in resource-limited settings. The position is dynamic, extending beyond strategic planning to include active support for on-ground teams in implementing program strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, along with a proven track record of leadership and management. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a flexible and often uncertain environment are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage state-level engagements with government and non-government stakeholders and drive program operations from the state level.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with relevant government stakeholders, development partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and execution of the strategic and operational plan for the Urban Immunization strengthening project.
  • Develop comprehensive plans for piloting new approaches and interventions for improvement in immunization service delivery, program review mechanisms, demand generation, and data systems strengthening in urban areas.
  • Independently guide and collaborate with the team to devise specific strategies and interventions to meet short-term and long-term program objectives.
  • Ensure the dissemination and socialization of progress metrics and reports with internal and external stakeholders as well as public platforms.
  • Develop purposive insights, visualizations, tools, templates, and planning aids that support program management and progress tracking.
  • Provide analytical and programmatic support, including dashboards and customized reports, to the team and to the state RI Cell on RI strengthening with a special emphasis on urban immunization.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to initiate ideas and develop proposals for new grants and projects, contributing actively to the proposal development process. 1
  • Support the development of project progress reports and other outputs for different stakeholders including government, country leadership, and donors. 1
  • Support capacity building of key functionaries on relevant competencies for sustained ownership and delivery. 1
  • Supervise, capacitate, and mentor team members on identified aspects that aid their growth journey while helping them contribute more effectively. 1
  • Travel on short notice to various parts of the state and often to national destinations as well. 1
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by the program leadership to support overall objectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, management sciences, economics (pure or applied), finance, or public health.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
  • 4 – 7 years of experience in a demanding result-driven environment in the private or public sector, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
  • Exceptional diplomacy and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and communication (written and verbal) skills, including the ability to create persuasive presentations and written reports.
  • Ability to think strategically, handle ambiguity, display high emotional intelligence, and problem-solve in a high-pressure, fast-paced, limited-structure, multicultural environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, including the ability to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving multiple teams, including priority setting, planning, performance review and management; and influencing with limited authority.
  • Ability to balance and find productive trade-offs between various opposing parameters (e.g., personal style, incentives, timeframe).

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, management sciences, economics (pure or applied), finance, or public health is required for this position. Candidates should possess exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities to effectively contribute to the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have 4 to 7 years of experience in a demanding result-driven environment, either in the private or public sector. This experience should reflect increasing levels of responsibility and leadership, demonstrating the ability to manage complex projects and engage with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, especially in the context of engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Bhopal, India, and may require travel on short notice to various parts of the state and occasionally to national destinations. The role is full-time and involves a dynamic work environment where the individual will need to be self-motivated and adaptable to changing circumstances.
