Job Overview: As a Digital Communications Officer at the CERN Pension Fund, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the communication strategies that engage members and beneficiaries. This position requires a blend of organizational skills, creativity, and technical proficiency to develop a comprehensive digital communication strategy. You will work closely with the Head of the Benefits Service and the Chief Operating Officer to optimize digital tools, manage content, and ensure that communications align with CERN's branding. This role is not just about managing information; it’s about creating meaningful connections and improving the user experience for all stakeholders involved. You will also be responsible for implementing feedback mechanisms to continuously improve services and support the design of a digital member and beneficiary portal, making this a vital position within a dynamic team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive digital communication strategy to effectively engage with members, beneficiaries, and key stakeholders.
Optimize the digital toolset, including website structure and content management, to enhance user experience.
Collaborate with IT and other colleagues to transition the website to a new platform.
Design and implement feedback mechanisms to gather insights from members and beneficiaries for continuous improvement.
Work with the Benefits Service team to support the design and phased implementation of a digital member and beneficiary portal.
Coordinate with CERN's Design and Visual Identity team to ensure that Pension Fund communications align with CERN's overall branding.
Manage administrative tasks related to communications with the governance body responsible for actuarial and technical matters for the Fund.
Required Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style for clarity and engagement across various digital platforms.
Proficiency in digital communication tools, including publication software and video/photo editing, to enhance user engagement.
Experience with content management systems such as Drupal and/or WordPress for effective content creation and management.
Understanding of user experience design principles to optimize website navigation and user experience.
Familiarity with digital analytics to drive content improvements and adapt to new technologies.
Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
Effective collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams, including IT, Design, and Diversity & Inclusion.
Ability to work independently and proactively.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a professional background in Digital Communications or a related field. A Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience is required, or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
Experience: The position requires a professional background in digital communications, with a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 6 years of post-graduation experience for Master's degree holders. For PhD holders, no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience is acceptable. This experience should ideally be in roles that involve digital communication strategies, content management, and user engagement.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in French is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the digital communication strategy.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is initially set for 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with a target start date of April 1, 202
The job reference for this position is PF-OP-2025-19-GRAP. The compensation includes a monthly stipend ranging between 6287 and 6911 Swiss Francs (net of tax), coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme for the employee and their family, and various allowances depending on individual circumstances. Employees will also receive 30 days of paid leave per year and opportunities for on-the-job training, formal training at CERN, and in-house language courses.
