Job Overview:
The role of the Data-Focused Intern at CHAI involves supporting the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MSHP) in Burkina Faso. The intern will be based in Ouagadougou and will work closely with various stakeholders at district, regional, and central levels, as well as engage with donors and the international community. The intern will be part of the digital health team, focusing on data collection, analysis, and visualization to support a pilot project aimed at improving financial management within health services. This position is crucial for enhancing access to health services and ensuring efficient use of resources in the context of Burkina Faso's health reforms and challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities include contributing to the collection, processing, and analysis of financial data from selected health facilities, ensuring the quality and relevance of the information. They will participate in developing and updating key indicators for monitoring financial performance in health centers, supporting the creation of dashboards and data visualization tools to facilitate decision-making. The intern will accompany field supervisions to collect additional data, assist in analyzing pilot results, and participate in drafting feedback bulletins and capitalization reports. They will also collaborate with developers to integrate indicators and analysis tools into digital systems and support the capacity building of local teams in data analysis and interpretation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be students or recent graduates in relevant fields such as computer science, digital health, finance, public health, or engineering. Initial experience in digital health, financial management, or project monitoring and evaluation is required, with participation in pilot phases considered an asset. A good understanding of the Burkina Faso health system is essential, along with demonstrated skills in data analysis, report writing, and presentation. Proficiency in QGIS, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, and R-Shiny is necessary, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being a student or recent graduate in a relevant field such as computer science, digital health, finance, public health, engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates should have a solid foundation in their field of study, with coursework or projects related to health systems, data analysis, or financial management being particularly beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires initial experience, which can be gained through internships, academic projects, or professional experiences in digital health, financial management, or project monitoring and evaluation. Previous experience in Sub-Saharan Africa would be a plus, as it would provide valuable context for understanding the local health system and stakeholder dynamics.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken French is mandatory, with at least an intermediate level of English being desirable. Proficiency in both languages is crucial for effective communication with stakeholders and for the analysis and presentation of data.

Additional Notes:
This is a 6-month contract position, with performance reviews at the end of the term and the possibility of extending the contract for an additional 6 months to 1 year. The role is full-time and requires a commitment to CHAI's values and a strong work ethic.
